“The writer may write to inform, to explain, to entertain, to persuade, but whatever the purpose, there should be, first of all, the satisfaction of the writer’s own learning, the joy and surprise of finding out what you have to say.”
-Donald Murray
One-on-One Support for Students
Because writing requires the coordination of many complex tasks, it is not unusual for students to struggle with writing. And because each writer is unique, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to supporting a writer’s development.
In our first session, I learn about the student’s writing history so that I can assess strengths and challenges and tailor instruction accordingly. Working together, we create strategies for effective writing and meeting deadlines.
Students will develop an appreciation for their unique writing process and gain more comfort and confidence in their abilities, allowing them to approach writing tasks with greater independence.
